About Me

Hello, thanks for taking the time to browse my site and to read this page about me and my work.

I found my way to Ayurveda after a journey of education, self-study and self-healing.

I was born in Torbay and I have been working in the Totnes area since 2013, offering these ancient techniques and therapies to the people I know and love in the Westcountry. Through this work, I am always meeting more and more new friends and interesting people, giving me deeper perspectives and enabling me to share this knowledge even further.

I initially qualified as an Ayurvedic Therapist, and since then have also qualified as an Ayurvedic Diet and Lifestyle Consultant. I have learned, and am always still learning, how to adapt the traditional Ayurvedic teachings so that they are understandable and applicable outside India.

I also completed an advanced course in Ayurvedic Herbalism with Sarah Williams (MNIMH), which deepened my knowledge of herbs and enhanced my ability to work with them from the Ayurvedic perspective. I am currently in my final year of training to qualify as a Medical Herbalist, which will allow me to gain full membership with the National Institute of Medical Herbalists.

I studied Sports Massage Therapy up to ITEC Level 4 at the London School of Massage. This enables me me to use some of the most up to date sports massage techniques within the Ayurvedic framework, and the two approaches work beautifully together. I completed further training there to qualify as an Advanced Therapeutic Massage Therapist and an On-Site Chair Massage Practitioner. I also worked at the London School of Massage for a year as a tutor, teaching Ayurveda Massage Therapy and Indian Head Massage.

I have been a qualified Yoga Teacher since 2016, and I offer tailored one-to-one yoga sessions, or work with small groups to help people to find their own path to practising yoga. I completed all my teacher training with Sheila Coombes, through the Friends of Yoga, and this consisted of a year's foundation course followed by a 200 hour and then a 500 hour diploma qualification.

I am also a master level practitioner in Reiki, and I either offer this as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with other treatments.

I work with many regular clients, to provide a relaxing massage, to ease a specific physical problem, to help reduce stress, or I work out a more detailed therapy plan to treat more persistant health complaints.

More information about Ayurvedic massage can be found here.

Ayurveda has taught me to look for patterns and links between physical, mental and emotional factors. I look for signs and symptoms of imbalance, and then help people to reduce the elements that are in excess. Ayurveda is very adaptable to life in the Western world, and Ayurvedic healing techniques have the potential to make a huge difference in many people's lives.

Love

Marie
